Spalding
is a peaceful market town on the River Welland with an attractive waterfront boasting grand Georgian terraces, tree-edged
streets and pretty riverside walks.
Much of the town is now an outstanding conservation area and offers a traditional
shopping centre, busy markets and plenty of history. Spalding is
famous for being the centre of the flower industry in Britain. The land is rich in silt so makes wonderful arable and horticultural
fields.
The area is now the largest producer of daffodils in the country and Spalding
holds a spectacular Flower Festival every May which brings the town alive with floral floats, colour, music and entertainment.

A new premier outlet
shopping village opened in May 2004 at Springfield’s Gardens on the edge of town. The new look Springfields
comprises themed, educational and specialist gardens, striking water features and woodland walks designed by celebrity
gardeners including Kim Wilde, Ali Ward and Chris Beardshaw.
There are over 42 stores selling well-known
brands at discount prices together with pavement cafes and restaurant facilities. Admission is free and it is estimated
that 2 million visitors a year will visit Springfields to shop, eat and gain inspiration for their gardens from the Chelsea
style themed area.
